Hauling Apples

Hauling Apples

We did this in 2007 because of Crop Failure in Missouri and Illinois due to Freeze

We were hauling apples from Michigan this year.  Working with a small orchard in Berrien Springs, Michigan.  This is just south of Benton Harbor, Michigan.  Got Jonathon, Yellow Delicious, Red Delicious, Jonagold and Honey Crisp Apples.  The quality is excellent from the orchard in Michigan.  As you can see from the pictures below, we hauled the apples ourselves.  Made weekly trips with our own trucks.   This is a full load of 261 bushels of apples.  We weighed 23,960 lbs total for the truck and trailer on our first load from Michigan.  We are licensed to carry 24,000 lbs. so were close on our weight.  It is a long trip — leaving at 4:00 am and returning to St. Louis by 8:00 pm.
